The man, believed to be in his late twenties, entered the Premier shop on Knotts Lane at around 2pm on Thursday, before spitting at a female member of staff.

Police are also appealing for witnesses who saw a man, described as being skinny, clean shaven with short dark hair and wearing all black clothing, in the area on Thursday afternoon.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for any witnesses to an assault that occurred on Thursday 14th May 2020 at approximately 13:56 hours at the Premier Convenience store, Knotts Lane, Colne, where a female member of staff was spat at twice by a customer.

"The suspect is described as a male in his late twenties, skinny built, clean shaven, with short dark hair and wearing all black clothing and believed to be Eastern European.

"This male has been seen to arrive and leave in a black Vauxhall Insignia."
