Members of Bolton Music Service have performed a song dedicated to all the NHS workers, carers and volunteers.

Singers came together with the help of modern technology to create a cover of Will Todd’s Like A Rainbow Shining, the video also features British Sign Language.

Before submitting their own performances, they took part in online rehearsals via Zoom.

BMS music teacher Emily Matthews took part in the video.

She said: “It’s a really nice piece of music and it sounds great.

“Obviously it wasn’t the same as performing in a choir because you can’t hear the harmonies, but it was really nice to be able to work on something together.

“The one thing which was difficult was finishing on time, when you don’t have a conductor it’s very easy to just keep holding a note.”

Carolyn Baxendale, head of BMS, said: “The song was inspired by the rainbows that have been put up in windows across Bolton as a sign of hope.

“We wanted to celebrate all the volunteers, frontline workers, home schoolers and all those whose kindness gives us all hope at this difficult time.

“The aim of the project was to show the wonderful way the people of Bolton have rallied together and to come together to create music whilst we are in isolation.”
