A BALCONY built on a house in a Blackburn cul-de-sac has ‘destroyed the privacy’ of a neighbour’s home, councillors have been told.
Dave Kirkpatrick, who lives on The Pastures, wrote to Blackburn with Darwen Council’s planning committee over the addition to the nearby house of Mr A Hussain on Eden Park.
He was objecting to it discharging a planning condition requiring the planting of six trees to screen his property from his neighbours,.
Mr Kirkpatrick said: “The ‘landscaping scheme’ proposed is wholly inadequate. Every time we go out to enjoy our garden, we are aware that the applicant could be out on their balcony looking at us. It feels like being in a public park rather than enjoying the privacy of our garden.”
The committee discharged the condition subject to the trees being planted by September.
Liberal Democrat councillor Paul Browne said: “This issue has been to this committee three times now. It is a complete farce.”
