A 22-year-old man caught dealing drugs on the streets of East Lancashire has been jailed.

Mustafa Rhaffiq appeared at Preston Crown Court this week charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin, after police in Blackburn stopped a car he was travelling on June 24 2019.

The court heard that Rhaffiq, who was 21 at the time, was found in possession of 50 wraps of heroin, pre-packaged in £10 bags, as well as crack cocaine that had not been pre-packaged, two mobile phones and a small amount of cash.

He was arrested and in a subsequent search of his home, officers found a significant amount of drug equipment worth £1,692 along with a larger quantity of heroin and crack cocaine.

Judge Simon Newell said: "The overall value of the drugs and the paraphernalia would have been more than £4,500.

"All this was consistent with commercial dealing rather than someone who was funding their own habit.

"You were 21 at the time and you are 22 now, and I will take into account the time that it has taken to bring this to court."

Rhaffiq, of Cherry Street, Audley Range, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to the charges and was handed a 33 month jail sentence.
