BLACKBURN with Darwen Council has confirmed its school holiday timetable for 2021/2022.

Borough director of children’s services Jayne Ivory said: “Schools have a preference for us to set a pattern that is aligned with Lancashire County Council. In this way there is less disruption for families and employees.”

The dates for Blackburn with Darwen schools are: autumn term 2021 - Wednesday September 1 to Friday December 17 with a mid-term closure from Monday October 25 to Friday October 29; spring term 2022 - Tuesday January to Friday April 1 with a mid-term closure from Monday February 14 to Friday February 18; and summer term 2022 - from Tuesday April 19 to Friday July 22 with a May Day Closure on Monday May 2 and a mid-term closure, Monday May 30 to Friday June 3.

Ms Ivory said: “The local authority has responsibility for setting the school holiday pattern for community and controlled schools. For other maintained schools (Voluntary Aided and Foundation) the governing body sets the holiday pattern. Trustees of free schools and academies have responsibility for setting their term and holiday dates.”
