THIS photograph taken from the air in 1975 shows just how big the new steel stockyard at the Hulton Steelworks belonging to John Booth and Sons actually was.
Large mobile cranes, similar to those which you might see on the docks, ran on tracks and lifted the steel supplies into the new process line.
The unit was capable of processing 300 tonnes of steelwork a week and the factory supplied steelwork for everything from motorway bridges to football stadia.
