Mayor Linda Thomas has been honoured in her new role with a floral display in Queens Park.

The annual mayoral display is created each year to welcome the new mayor into the office.

The design is created using different types of bedding plants, it features the crest of Bolton and her name Cllr. L. Thomas.

Sharing the photograph, a spokesperson for Bolton Council said: "Queen’s Park has seen the traditional Mayoral display laid out.

"The new Mayor of Bolton, Councillor Linda Thomas is pictured admiring the coat of arms of the borough and her name spelled out in flowers."

Cllr Linda Thomas, the Mayor of Bolton said: "I was not expecting the traditional flowerbed with my name and Bolton’s crest this year due to the lockdown but was thrilled and found it so uplifting in these difficult times we are all facing.

"Thank you to Adrian Gittins and his great team of gardeners for all their expertise and hard work. The flowerbed looks absolutely stunning.”

Former council leader Linda Thomas took on the role in a virtual meeting held on May 15, taking on over from Cllr Hilary Fairclough.

The new mayor will be supporting several charities during her time in office, including Fortalice and Urban Outreach.
