EAST Lancashire bus operator Transdev is helping its passengers comply with new government rules on wearing face coverings on public transport by selling their own design for just £2.50.

All the proceeds will go to NHS Charities Together, supporting NHS staff and volunteers caring for COVID-19 patients nationwide.

Transdev is also giving away 250 of the colourful coverings to key workers who have been riding its buses to get to work throughout the lockdown.

They can claim by emailing keyworker@transdevbus.co.uk with either their bus pass number, or the email address registered to their mobile ticket account.

The firm operates the Blackburn and Burnley Bus Company services along with trans-Pennine services and express routes including Witchway and Red Express from East Lancashire into Manchester.

Transdev’s chief executive Alex Hornby said: “The latest Government guidance is a simple ‘ask’ of our customers, so everyone can travel with peace of mind.

“Our buses are clean, safe and ready to go, and we want everyone to travel in comfort and confidence.

“Several of our buses also now have ‘coverings’ of their own. We’ve always set out to make our buses places people want to be seen, and the same touch of style has gone into creating unique face coverings, which are available to our customers at our travel shop in Blackburn Bus Station.”
