TWO Blackburn-based designers became the toast of the fashion industry back in 2006 when their charity tote bag became the ‘must have’ accessory.
Jenny Loram-Spring and Kate Ball from the Dead on Arrival Fashion Design Company designed a limited edition charity bag to mark the 30th anniversary of the Prince’s Trust.
The bags sold for £2.99 in Superdrug stores around the country and the pair were stunned when supermodel Kate Moss was photographed with one of their bags on her arm.
As a result of the publicity this generated worldwide, more than 50,000 bags were sold.
The pair, who both studied at the University of Central Lancashire, were helped by the Prince’s Trust to set up their design business.
Kate Ball said: “The fact that is so affordable is great because it means everyone can buy it, not just Kate Moss.”
