LOCKDOWN has been a testing time.

That's why the Lancashire Telegraph launched the #lockdownheroes campaign to highlight the fantastic things people have been doing whilst we have been in isolation.

Each week we have published your nominations in the Lancashire Telegraph and have been blown away by the community spirit shown across East Lancashire.

It's not too late to nominate someone to be your #lockdownhero, simply email their details with a photograph to simone.okane@newsquest.co.uk.

Here's a roundup of your nominatins.

Princess attracting fans from far away for fun

I WOULD like to nominate Lauren Saddington at ‘More Than Just A Princess’.
Out of lockdown she runs a party company delivering themed parties and character meet and greets for children - I do not know her for that...
I know her for delivering children’s quizzes and sing alongs on her Facebook page.
Every event she hosts draws in around 300 people.
She is so energetic and funny and offers that escapism we all need...and all for FREE!
In a time where many are charging, Lauren is not. My Family join her numerous times a week; she is a highlight and an event to really look forward to in these challenging times.
I don’t even live in your area, I live in Portsmouth and really think Lauren deserves recognition hence my search to find awards/recognition local to her and I found The Lancashire Telegraph.
She is a shining example of a community champion; supporting everyone and anyone who chooses to join her online.

Ice skating teacher keeping kids cool

MY nomination goes to Danielle Starkie.
Danielle is my 8-year-old daughter’s ice skating coach at Blackburn Ice Arena.
During the current lockdown, ice skating has not been able to continue.
However, Danielle has come up with a solution by giving up her own time for free to run online ‘off ice’ skating sessions.
They have ranged from stretching to circuits sometimes with ice skates on and sometimes without.
They’ve worked on lots of ice skating techniques including jumps, spins and balance as well as some general fitness.
My daughter has loved the moment away from the restrictions and boredom and a bit of time spent with some familiar faces doing something she loves to do.
After every session, although worn out, she has always got a smile on her face.
Like many I have at times struggled to keep my children entertained and fight off the boredom and these sessions have been invaluable in giving her something to focus on.
In addition to this, when we finally see the ice rinks reopen she will be ready and raring to get back on to the ice again.

Darwen’s kind Rotarians

DARWEN Rotary members rallied around when firefighters and volunteers were battling the huge blaze on the moors.
We took those fighting the fire supplies during the searing temperatures.
Our members paid and arranged for 80 meals of sandwiches, cakes and drinks to feed and water them.
A fire engine was dispatched by the brigade to pick up the goods to take them onto the moor. The Rotarians also planned another lunch for the following day but then the firefighters and volunteers were stood down.
Well done all! Roy Chatburn, Darwen Rotarian.

Cook in the community is a star

MEHRUN Jogee has worked tirelessly to provide nutritious hot meals for vulnerable residents across Blackburn with Darwen during the coronavirus crisis.
Before lockdown, Mehrun, 52, had been taking part in the Our Community, Our Future Community Ambassador programme to help develop her skills and knowledge to become more involved in her community.
Our Community, Our Future is a three year programme which brings together a wide range of local partners working together to strengthen relationships between people from different backgrounds, to help the borough become a place where diversity is valued.
Mehrun also cooks and delivers meals to young people supported through Nightsafe five times a week.

Duo are keeping the streets tidy in lockdown

I WOULD like to nominate Tariq Mahmood and Lajpaal Jaat, who are keeping the streets of Blackburn clean and tidy during lockdown.
They have both been going out picking up rubbish and have shown a great sense of community spirit.
It’s a fantastic effort.
It has been great to see them work hard around Blackburn so that places are litter free.
I’d also like to say a huge thanks to everyone who has been keeping Blackburn tidy.
During the lockdown there has been a lot less rubbish on the streets but we have all had a chance to keep the borough tidy.
There has been some fly-tipping and general dump offs in back alleys and other places because the tip is closed.
The volunteers give up their own time and often use their own vehicles to remove the rubbish.
It’s the little things that make the community come together and it’s great.
I would also like to remind people that Blackburn with Darwen council provide free litter picking kits to anyone in the borough.
It would be good to see others come together whilst they have time during lockdown to pick up litter.
Nominated by Natalie Perkins.

Dance teacher is just awesome

I WOULD like to nominate Vicky Rothwell and Rothwell Arts Dance School.
Vicky has been continuing lessons throughout everything going on during lockdown.
It has been a highlight for Miss Vicky’s students and also for my daughter.
The girls and boys at Rothwell Arts have all had her regular dance lessons available through amazing online learning.
Miss Vicky has made sure that her students are completing both syllabus work and preparing for the school’s upcoming showcase (hopefully).
The teachers at Rothwell Arts have worked hard to maintain a full timetable for each and every child and we I just want to thank them.
Vicky is also well known in the community and runs a community academy session.
This class has been designed to keep people in the community moving and is awesome.
From health and wellbeing to yoga and fitness for people with a disabilities.
There are no boundaries at Rothwell Arts and it’s wonderful to see someone who has worked so hard to keep on going during lockdown when businesses and dance schools are suffering.
Well done!
