ELECTRICITY is being switched off in an area to deal with a big fire at a bungalow.

Six fire engines are currently at Hillsborough Avenue, Brierfield, where a bungalow and a garage are on fire.

Fire crews have warned people to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed as they deal with the incident.

A tweet from Lancashire fire said: "We have six fire engines dealing with a fire involving a detached garage and a bungalow at a house on Hillsborough Avenue, Brierfield.

"There is a lot of smoke in the area and if you can see it or smell it, please go inside and close windows and doors.

"We are working with partner agencies to bring the fire under control. Electricity NW will be switching off the electricity in the area shortly but we will work as quickly as we can so it can be turned on as soon as possible."
