FANS of an artistic East Lancashire visitor attraction have been reminded to stay away.

The Pendle Sculpture Trail in Barley is currently shut due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Borough council leader Cllr Mohammed Iqbal has underlined the continuing closure so visitor stay away.

Launched in 2012 for the 400th anniversary of the Pendle Witches trial, the sculpture trail starts just outside the village of Barley,

Cllr Iqbal said: “It’s our duty to protect everyone who visits our tourist attractions.

“We need to help reduce the spread of coronavirus which means The Pendle Sculpture Trail will remain closed until further notice.”

Dean Langton, Pendle Council's chief executive, said: “Hundreds of people flock to Barley to climb Pendle Hill or visit the sculpture trail, especially when it’s good weather.

“The trail is currently closed but we’ll continue to review the situation as lockdown eases.

“Please do not come to Barley if your intention is to visit The Pendle Sculpture Trail.”
