Police are carrying out enquiries to find out exactly what type of drug was present in several snap bags after they were seized from a vehicle on Friday evening.

Officers in the Ribble Valley stopped a car on Whalley Road in Clitheroe at around 11pm as they wanted to have a little chat with the driver.

Believing the man to be concealing illegal substances, police officers searched him, and then searched his vehicle and discovered several snap bags containing suspected Class A drugs.

The man was arrested and interviewed on Saturday morning before being released under investigation.

A spokesperson for the police said: "A subsequent search of the male and his vehicle revealed several snap bags, which contained what it is believed to be Class A drugs.

"The male was interviewed on Saturday morning and has been released under investigation while enquiries into what was contained in the bag continue.

"Officers will continue to target offenders entering the Ribble Valley to commit offences, and will work with our residents to try and make the area safer."
