A POPULAR children's party destination has gone out of business because of coronavirus.

Eddie Bears Play House, in King Street Retail Park, will not be reopening its doors after lockdown.

The play centre posted the news onto their Facebook page on Sunday, thanking people for their support.

Addressing friends, family, and customers, the post read: "It’s taken me a few days to be able to actually write this post out, but the sad time has come, we have made the decision to not re open our doors.

"Unfortunately covid-19 has hit us hard and with how long it’s going to take us to be able to reopen under normal circumstances it’s just not something we can do.

"Myself and all the staff would like to say a massive thank you for everyone who has supported us over the amazing 18 months we were open."

Eddie Bears will be contacting all people with parties booked regarding refunds this week.

The business, run by Kirsty Taylor, was incorporated in September 2018.

Many families have expressed their sadness at the site's closure, with Cllr Paul Sanders saying: "Terribly sad news from our friends at Eddie Bears Play House.

"The impact of COVID-19 means they will not be in a position to re-open.

"From personal experience with my two-year-old daughter, Eddie Bears and the wonderful team will be sorely missed.

"We want say thank you and to extend our sincere best wishes for the future to all involved with Eddie Bears."
