NEWCASTLE United players took the knee during training on Tuesday as the world of sport continued to protest against the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Mr Floyd, a black man, died on Monday of last week after a white police officer held him down by pressing a knee into his neck, sparking protests in cities across the United States and around the world.

A number of athletes in the US and the UK have shown solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter cause, with Magpies players the latest to show their support.

The club's official Twitter account posted a picture taking the knee during training, beneath the caption of #UnitedAsOne.
