A DRIVER was left to walk home last night after police seized his vehicle for having no insurance.
When immediate response officers stopped the black Vauxhall Zafira in Brookhouse Lane, Blackburn, claimed that somebody had purchased insurance on his behalf, but that turned out to be wide of the mark.
A police spokesman said: "Team one officers stopped a black Vauxhall Zafira on Brookhouse Lane, Blackburn for having no Insurance. The driver was under the impression that someone else had purchased insurance for him, sadly he was mistaken.
"Please remember that as a driver of a vehicle it is the drivers responsibility to ensure that they are insured to drive and be able to prove this if stopped by Police. If the driver of this Zafira had thought of this then maybe he wouldn't have had to walk home."
