A post office in Horwich has become the heart of the community during lockdown thanks to the efforts of the lady who runs it.
Christine Dunning has single-handedly kept the Chapel Lane Post Office open over the past few months.
By keeping it open Christine has helped people stay in touch with loved ones, allowed charities to continue their work and kept residents smiling.
The 65-year-old said: "It's been really busy but definitely rewarding, I've been here a long time and I know all my customers, I just wanted to do my bit for them. It's been great and I've had no problems."
Mark Murray, co-founder of mental health awareness group Whysup, said: "We wouldn't take our post anywhere else.
"Christine has always supported what we do, has enabled us to keep our merchandise moving during lockdown and just seems to want to help with anything she can.
"In addition to that we have some great chats with her and genuinely look forward to going in the shop for a catch up.
"I think most retailers and service providers would learn a lot from how Christine treats her customers."
Chris Green, who visited the post office in February with Kelly Tolhurst, Minister for Small Business, said: "It was lovely to meet Christine and have a chat about everything she does to serve the local community.
"In these difficult times, that personal contact and warmth of friendship is more important than ever before and I am delighted that so many local residents value Christine and the local post office."
