TWO men were arrested overnight after they were both seen trying to get into cars in separate incidents.

In the first case, a man was arrested after he was seen trying car handles on the Troy Street area of Blackburn at around 11pm on Wednesday.

Officers attended and with help from members of the public, located the man a short distance away – he was arrested for vehicle interference and theft.

Early this morning, a man on a bicycle was disturbed by a resident after he was seen trying to get into cars on Parkes Way in Blackburn shortly after 2am.

He fled the area by was seen shortly later by the officers in the Tactical Operations Unit trying to run away into Fernhurst Woods.

A police spokesman said: “PD Zorro tracked male hiding in bushes down steep embankment.

“Male arrested on suspicion of attempt theft from motor vehicle.”

Residents in both areas are being asked to check their CCTV for any footage of interest.
