A MAN with a history of harassing people has been jailed for six months for his latest breach of a restraining order.

Blackburn magistrates were told Raymond Drobny posted an Instagram message saying the other man “messes with kids”.

He had already been the victim of abuse from Drobny and a restraining order put in place to protect him had been breached twice.

The court was told Drobny had 22 previous convictions for breaching restraining orders.

Imposing an immediate custodial sentence District Judge Joanne Hirst said Drobny had a history of harassing people.

“The repeated harassment of this latest victim is making his life a misery,” said District Judge Hirst.

“You are blighting and poisoning your own life by this kind of behaviour.

“It is an obsessive cycle and you will continue to serve custodial sentences until you modify your behaviour.”

Drobny, 66, of Hargreaves Street, Colne, pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order imposed in October which specifically prohibited him posting any comments about the victim on social media.

“The victim says there have been a number of previous incidents which he has found absolutely draining,” said prosecutor Peter Kelly. “He just wants to get on with his life without the interference of the defendant.”

Richard Prew, defending, said it was accepted the defendant’s previous record put the incident in a far more serious category.

“He thinks he took too much medication before sending out the message to a third party,” said Mr Prew. “He has issues with the aggrieved but he has to keep them to himself.”
