A little boy with dreams of becoming a police officer had a lockdown birthday to remember when he got visit from his heroes.

George Pollard, who turned six at the weekend, was visited by officers from the Hyndburn Neighbourhood Police team on Saturday, and they even brought him a cake.

PC Graham Hartley arrived at George's Accrington home flashing the police car lights and sounding the sirens, leaving the little boy amazed.

George's mum, Claire Pollard, said: "PC Hartley from Hyndburn police came to visit George and it was unbelievably cute.

"He brought a cake made by a lady called Tracy and gifted him a real police man's hat.

"He's had the best day ever and so have the rest of us.

"Who would have thought it in lockdown?

"I literally can't thank PC Hartley enough for this, and in his own words, George has 'had the best day'."

Mrs Pollard said her son had been missing his family and friends and wasn't looking forward to having his birthday in lockdown.

She added: "He said it's been nice to be able to speak to the neighbours and see them over the fence the past few days with weather being good."

Hyndburn police put the video of George on their Facebook page and were inundated with comments and likes.

Mrs Pollard continued: "We're honestly blown away with all the views and comments.

"George had a birthday to remember I'd say. And fingers crossed he becomes PC Pollard in years to come.

"This video makes me so proud and emotional that the police came out of their way in these awful times to make my boy smile."

Posting on social media, Hyndburn Police said: "In the midst of this current lockdown and dealing with the restrictions and difficulties it brings, the Hyndburn neighbourhood policing team we were called upon to attend a happier task - George’s 6th Birthday.

"Mum Claire got in touch to request a quick visit to say happy birthday to George, who loves dressing up as a police officer.

"I arrived to find George ready to greet me in his full police uniform riding his police bike.

"We delivered the fabulous birthday cake which had been donated by Tracy and left knowing that in the absence of a party due to social distancing that we had made George’s day.

"Thank you for making me smile George. Stay safe."
