THE Lancashire Telegraph community heroes campaign has received the backing of Blackburn’s MP Kate Hollern.

This week we launched the #lockdownheroes campaign to highlight the fantastic people within our community who are still keeping spirits high and the world turning during the coronavirus crisis.

Mrs Hollern said she welcomed the work that was being carried out by community members in Blackburn and beyond.

She said: “I am always struck by the amazing community spirit shown by local residents in Blackburn and across East Lancashire.

“The current crisis has impacted on every single person in society, in ways that none of us could have ever imagined.

“I’m in no doubt that as we all continue to pull together and look after each other, whether that be by giving above and beyond the call of duty in work, by volunteering in the community or simply by keeping an eye out for our neighbours whilst continuing to observe social distancing rules, we will ensure our communities remain strong.

“To the #lockdownheroes well done. And to those being supported I’d say please nominate someone who deserves recognition for going the extra mile.”

Anyone can qualify as a community hero if they are making a difference to someone’s life during lockdown, or helping to keep life moving as normal.
