An award-winning East Lancashire brewery have answered the call from a leading police officer and showed support for military personnel living away from home during the coronavirus crisis by delivering them some of their cask ales.

Bowland Brewery, which is based at Holmes Mill in Clitheroe, responded to a tweet from DCC Terry Woods' asking for Lancashire retailers and breweries to show their appreciation to the military planners helping out with the newly formed Lancashire Resilience Forum.

Set up in March in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Lancashire Resilience Forum is a multi agency approach to dealing with emergency situations in Lancashire.

Director at Bowland Brewery, Andrew Warburton, said: "When we heard what the Lancashire Resilience Forum were doing to help support our community we wanted to show our appreciation with a little Lancashire hospitality.

"We may not be in a position to brew our award-winning cask ales at the moment but we have plenty of mini-casks and bottles available, so we packed them up and delivered them to Preston Police HQ in Hutton for all these unsung heroes to enjoy.

“It’s really gratifying that so many of our customers have continued to support us during this difficult time and this is our way of thanking the military on behalf of us all.”

Bowland Beers are available in bottles and mini cask at Bowland Food Hall, Booth’s and Spar shops across the county as well as online at bestofbritishbeer.co.uk/bowland-mixed-case.

The core range includes Hen Harrier, Pheasant Plucker, Buster IPA, Boxer Blonde and Deer Stalker.

Like so many of the counties brewers, Bowland Brewery is currently unable to brew their award-winning cask ales, but are keeping busy delivering to retailers, and preparing for when things return to normal.
