A CONVICTED child abuser failed to comply with requirements of the sex offenders register.

Blackburn magistrates heard Hassan Ali went "under the radar" for nearly five months and when he was arrested said he didn't want to be managed by the police.

Ali, 27, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements.

He was sent in custody to be sentenced at Burnley Crown Court on May 21.

Peter Bardsley, prosecuting, said Ali was made subject to indefinite notification requirements after being convicted of sexual activity with a child in 2015.

In November 2019 he registered a new address in Leeds Road, Nelson.

When police subsequently made enquiries the landlord said Ali had asked about the property but had never moved in.

"The defendant claimed he had moved in but moved out shortly after and never returned," said Mr Bardsley.

"He told police he didn't want to be managed by them and would continue breaching the order."

He said Ali had two previous breaches of the order on his record.

Richard Prew, defending, said his client maintained that he had lived at the property for a short time.

He said an infant member of the defendant's family had died in tragic circumstances in Luton.

"He went down there and remained until returning to this area," said Mr Prew.

"He knows that even if he is homeless he still has to sign on at the police station once a week."
