MORE than a thousand people from as far away as Brazil joined  Jenny Ryan for her lockdown quiz for Bolton Hospice.

The Bolton-born quizzer hosted her one hour Quiz on the Couch on social media.

Jenny hosted the event from her own sofa to support the hospice and their work caring for terminally ill people and their families.

The Chase star started the event talking about her reasons for running the quiz.

She said: "Bolton Hospice provide a vital service for the local community in Bolton caring for patients and families of people with life-limiting diseases.

"Now more than every they need our support. The coronavirus pandemic is affecting everybody's lives but charities are finding it really really hard.

"When you think of Bolton Hospice we spend money in their charity shops and events like the memories walk but those events are gone.

"It means they are losing a lot of revenue and we hope the Government will provide some support but the other group of people who can help are the community so that is why we are doing this."

More than 1,100 tuned in and they came from Brazil, Australia, Leicester, Bacup and Bury while there were brainiacs closer to home in Bolton, Breightmet, Little Lever, Blackrod and Horwich.

Among the questions included: How much could you buy Mayfair for on the Monopoly board and Who was the sixth wife of Henry VIII?
