REPAIRS on a section of the M56 between Chester and Ellesmere Port are due to get underway later this month.

Work will be carried out to repair concrete carriageway between junctions 15, at Stoak, and 16.

This will be carried out on both sides of the carriageway and will include drainage repairs and replacement of road markings.

A spokesman for Highways England said the work is due to start on or shortly after April 20 for about two months.

This will take place between the hours of 8pm and 6am, Monday to Sunday. The working hours will be pushed back to 7am at the weekends.

The spokesman added: "For safety purposes, overnight closures of the M56 between junctions 15 and 16 are required.

"In addition to this, daytime lane closures will also be in place, to ensure the concrete is set before allowing road users onto the new surface.

"Associated slip road closures are also required, and localised signed diversion routes will be in place."

Highways England have said that they are following the current government guidelines with regards to the coronavirus outbreak.
