The Easter Bunny will be making some special deliveries this week thanks to Smithills Milk and Ice Creamery.

The dairy farm posted a video on Facebook on Monday morning, featuring the Easter Bunny to announce that they were producing Easter themed bundles that would be delivered to people's homes instead of hosting an Easter Egg hunt.

In less than on hour the farm was overwhelmed with responses, and the first 300 people to get in touch the lucky recipients of the bundles, which will be delivered later this week.

Louise Blundell, who runs the farm along with Carl Grimshaw, said: "We already had all the Easter Eggs in stock, we would have been hosting the Easter Egg hunt but obviously can't do that anymore.

"So we had got all the eggs sitting in the stock room, and we thought that we can't keeping eating these until July.

"We didn't know what to do them all, but we thought we may as well deliver some. We put up a Facebook post with a video and explaining what was in the bundles, we made 300 of them. Within 45 minutes we had sold out.

"It was quite a last minute idea but we could have some more in the future. It's getting really though so we had to do something quick.

"In the bundles are three Easter Eggs, a cuddly farm animal, some chocolate eggs and some Easter sweets. The only thing we need is bags for everything; we've got staff driving all around to trying to find something suitable.

"The bundles will be delivered by the Easter Bunny, he'll be in the van with the driver when they drop them off.

"We had hundreds of replies to the Facebook post, there's still people texting and ringing. We've got 592 texts we've not even read right now.

"We thought about doing the Easter Egg hunt in summer but everything's so uncertain we thought we would do something sooner.

"It's been absolutely crazy these past few weeks, the milk round has doubled, It's good as long as people stay with us after coronavirus."
