A LEADING figure from the county’s creative sector Jenny Rutter has been appointed as the new chair of Creative Lancashire.

She was one of the people who helped set up the organisation.

Ms Rutter works with Burnley-based Super Slow Way and manages its three-year programme of commissions and residencies along their Pennine Lancashire 20-mile stretch of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal.

She also helped set up Blackburn’s first British Textile Biennial last year.

Ms Rutter said: “My work across Lancashire has re-enforced my belief in the power of arts and creativity to drive social change and to help shape positive futures for marginalised people and places.

“I am really proud to be asked to chair Creative Lancashire, an organisation which has had such a positive impact on the creative landscape in the county over the last 15 years.”

Ms Rutter takes over from Charles Hadcock, the businessman and sculptor.

The service is provided by Lancashire County Council through its economic development company Lancashire County Developments Ltd.
