OPTICIANS in Furness are delivering glasses to vulnerable people in the community during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Team members at Barrow-based Richard Haynes Opticians and Conlons of Barrow Opticians are delivering their specs to those in need, including older members of the community and high-risk patients.
Vera Wilton Optometrists and Eye Care Excellence, in Dalton and Ulverston respectively, are also travelling to practices free of charge to the door of patients who cannot visit due to the lockdown and delivering contact lenses and solution to those in isolation.
Attention has been given to ensuring disinfection of all equipment, door handles, frames and sunglasses for a safe environment if a patient visits for an emergency appointment.
Optometrist Mark Roberts said: “The wellbeing of our patients is our highest priority, so these measures are about ensuring the health of those in local area is maintained."
