TWO MEN suffered head and leg injuries in a 10-man street brawl.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following the disorder in Burnley Road, Brierfield – on the stretch between Powerhouse Gym and Dixy Chicken – at around 12.10am on April 1.

As a result two men received head and leg injuries and were taken to Burnley General Hospital, while two different men from Brierfield, aged, 22 and 23, were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. They have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police patrols in the area have been increased while the incident is being investigated.

Det Insp Paul Langley said: “We know that a number of motorists passed the fight and I would appeal for them to come forward and to ask that if they have any dash cam footage of the incident to please send it to us.

“As a consequence of this disorder emergency resources had to be diverted away from where they are required at this time, in particular NHS staff, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“To provide reassurance to the local community we have increased police patrols in the Brierfield area. We would however continue to advise people to adhere to the Government guidelines to stay at home, except for very limited purposes.”
