OH the agony! Regulars at the Hargreaves Arms in Accrington had to endure Euro heartbreak as Sven Goran Eriksson’s England were knocked out of the 2004 championships after to losing to Portugal in the quarter-finals on penalties.
The pub was packed with fans who watched the game live on the big screen including David Place from West End and Tom McVicker from Avenue Parade.
This was the moment that David Beckham missed in the penalty shoot-out which saw hosts Portugal go through 6-5 after the match itself ended in a 2-2 draw after extra time.
The Hargreaves was one of many pubs around East Lancashire screening matches.
