Pubs, restaurants and bars across Bolton may be closed during lockdown but police have reassured Breightmet residents that one pub's steady flow of visitors is no cause for concern.
Bolton North police had received several calls from the public reporting that The Within's Bar in Breightmet was still open during lockdown.
However, in a Facebook post Greater Manchester Police Bolton North revealed that there was a good reason for the bar being open, as they were organising food hampers for vulnerable people.
GMP Bolton North wrote: "We have had numerous calls from the public reporting The Withins pub in Breightmet being open following lockdown. To avoid any confusion if you see people going in and out of the pub, the team have removed all seating from inside the pub and are making up hampers for vulnerable people in the community.
"If you know of anyone who is vulnerable and doesn't have a support network, you can contact The Withins pub Facebook page, who will do their best to help."
In their own Facebook post, The Within's Bar revealed that they had given out over 30 food hampers to their elderly customers in the past week.
