HYNDBURN, Ribble Valley, Pendle and Rossendale councils have all set up community hubs to help residents during the coronavirus crisis.

All four authorities have a dedicated number to contact support services.

These include advice on where to get food; help with shopping; support for mental health issues; dog walking; collecting prescriptions; dealing with social isolation and loneliness and financial and debt advice.

Cllr Miles Parkinson, leader of Hyndburn Council, said: “We all send our condolences to the family and friends of Bill Smith from Great Harwood, who sadly passed away due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"As a nation we are aware the situation will worsen and the key to tackling this lies with each individual community.”

Cllr Mohammed Iqbal, leader of Pendle Council, said: “We’re working with a range of organisations and voluntary groups to help vulnerable people get through the difficult crisis we are facing.”

Cllr Alyson Barnes, leader of Rossendale Council, said: “The unseen loving support that people are giving within communities is both incredibly touching and crucial.”
