LANCASHIRE County Council's leader has thrown his weight behind our 'Support Our Guardian Angels' campaign.
Cllr Geoff Driver joins the leaders of Blackburn with Darwen, Hyndburn and Burnley councils in backing the initiative launched yesterday.
The Lancashire Telegraph and its sister Newsquest local newspapers are joining together to raise money for NHS Charities Together and their urgent Covid-19 appeal.
They are also urging readers to support health service workers risking their lives to protect the rest of us.
Cllr Driver said: "I welcome this new campaign.
"This is an unprecedented situation that we face and doctors, nurses and all hospitals staff are doing a tremendous job in very difficult circumstances.
"We fully support this appeal and urge people to give generously to help the people on the front line who are putting their own health at stake to help others.
"We'd also reiterate the importance of following the Government guidelines to help reduce the spread of COVID 19 so we can stay well and reduce the pressure on our hospitals."
