A MAN struggling to accept the end of a relationship followed his ex-partner as she went to work.

Blackburn magistrates heard Thomas Leslie Young repeatedly approached his former partner and on one occasion asked her to be his wife and have his children.

He ignored repeated rejections and pulled towards him and asked for a hug after running towards her as she approached her place of work.

She said she was terrified of him and fed up of constantly looking over her shoulder when she was going to work or out in public.

Young, 24, of Bacup Road, Rawtenstall, pleaded guilty to stalking involving serious distress. He was remanded on bail until April 22 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Waseem Choudhary, defending, said his client had been upset by the breakdown of the relationship.

"His only intention was to make things right," said Mr Choudhary.

Ordering the preparation of a pre-sentence report the chairman of the magistrates said the victim was seriously worried and frightened and it was all down to Young.
