THERE are closures in place on the M61 after an earlier fuel spillage and car fire.
Highways England said that the M61 northbound between J6 and J8 had been temporarily stopped due to a minor collision and spillage.
Officers from Lancashire Road Police, Greater Manchester Police and North West Motorway Police were on the scene.
The North West Ambulance Service were also called out, deploying an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle to the incident just before midday.
They said that they treated one woman who had been taken to hospital.
Highways England tweeted: "The M61 is now closed J6-8 including the services at Rivington (BoltonWest) due to an extensive fuel spillage, maintenance crews are enroute for assessment and clean up. Thankyou for your patience."
