A performance venue has decided to postpone all of its shows for the rest of March.

St Mary's Chambers in Rawtenstall made the announcement on their Facebook page on Tuesday evening.

Their statement read: "In response to the recent Prime Minister’s statement advising the UK public to avoid unnecessary social contact, including in theatres, it is with regret we have made the decision to postpone the shows we have booked in for the rest of March.

"We are hoping to have the new dates confirmed by this Friday.

"We would like to ask that people consider waiting for the new dates before requesting refunds, this would be a great support to us in this tough period.

"We are sorry it has come to this and it hasn't been a decision we have made lightly but we feel this is the safest option at this moment and we will be constantly reviewing the situation over the upcoming weeks.

"All of us here at St Mary's Chambers would like to thank you all for your ongoing support and we would like to offer our best wishes to fellow theatres, businesses and to everyone in and out of the entertainment business who has been affected by this."

Full details of refunds and a list of new show dates will be available from Friday.
