A BLACKBURN man says he was outraged to find his driving test cancelled on Tuesday morning due to concerns about coronavirus despite having paid for a pre-test lesson and being given no advance warning.

The 20-year-old KFC assistant manager says he arrived at the Blackburn with Darwen Driving Test Centre with his instructor at 8.20am only to be confronted by his would-be examiner informing him that his test had been cancelled.

The examiner apparently acted on his own initiative after Boris Johnson’s warning on Monday evening to limit unnecessary social contact.

The disappointed learner driver who wishes to remain anonymous said: “He said he’s not going to apologise and that for me is bang out of order. Boris Johnson gave his speech at 5pm so he had plenty of time to let us know.”

A spokesperson for the DVSA confirmed that no order has gone through from central government for driving tests to be cancelled in the UK and they were not aware of the Blackburn centre cancelling tests.
