The Breakfast and Books event planned for this Saturday morning at the Carus Centre, Hoddlesden, has been postponed because of coronavirus concerns.

The event was to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and organised by the Darwen local voluntary fundraising committee.

The decision was made in the light of the possible scaling up of government and NHS advice and restrictions surrounding the outbreak of coronavirus.

Said committee chairman Linda Chatburn: “We think that this is the sensible thing to do.

“We always get a fantastic response to this annual event but because of the size restrictions of the room there is a high demand for the limited number of seats.

“The last thing we want to do is put anyone at risk or give them cause for concern.

“We will be arranging a new date which we will publicise in due course.”
