LANCASHIRE'S best pie shop has been revealed.

More than 2,400 votes were cast this week to determine which bakery has the best pies in Lancashire.

In first place was Martins Bakery in Oswaldtwistle, which gained the lion's share of the votes with 58 per cent.

In second place was Cissy Greens in Haslingden, (last year's winner) which gained 19 per cent of the votes.

In third place was D.Ingham & Son Butchers in Foulridge, which gained 15 per cent of the votes.

Roy Porter Butchers in Chatburn came fourth with five per cent of the votes.

And Nicholson's Butchers Ltd in Nelson had two per cent of the votes.

Lyndon Martin, who is the third generation baker at the Union Road business, said the bakery has been at the same site since 1898.

He said it's been in the family since 1945, when his grandad, Ernest Martin took over.

It was then handed down to his dad John, before he took the reins in 1990.

He said: "We are genuinely thrilled, and would like to thank all our customers who voted for our pies, after we put a link to the Lancashire Telegraph link vote on social media.

"It's great the same recipes the bakery was using in 1898 are just as popular today, thanks again.

"The post popular pie is our jellied meat pie."
