A MAN has been cautioned by police after he assaulted a Blackburn travel agent in his shop.

The man burst into Star Services travel agency on Darwen Street at midday on Wednesday, where an argument began between himself and businessman Mudassir Shaheen.

CCTV footage shows the attacker punched the travel agent twice during the heated exchange, which has left employees at the business fearful.

Mr Shaheen said he was unhappy with the police decision to issue a caution and would be asking them to reopen the case in order to take the attacker to court.

“I’ve already spoken to my solicitor and we plan to take him to court for the assault,” he said.

The attack has left people “shaken”, according to an employee who witnessed the assault, who wished to remain nameless.

She told the Lancashire Telegraph the attacker was “demanding money” from Mr Shaheen before lashing out.

“A man came in at around 12 looking very angry and asking for money,” she said.

“He punched the owner twice and then I called the police.

“The man looked surprised after I did that and kept walking in and out of the shop before the police arrived.”

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “We were made aware of the incident and subsequently arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of common assault.

“They were arrested at lunchtime on Wednesday and were later given a caution.”

An ambulance was called to the scene where Mr Shaheen was allegedly “bleeding from the nose and ears”.

North West Ambulance Service confirmed they treated Mr Shaheen, but that he did not require any hospital treatment.
