MOTORISTS were delayed on their morning commute today due to a crash on the A56.

A silver van collided with a flatbed truck southbound on the A56 this morning.

An eyewitness said the incident took place near to where the A56 merges with the M66, near Edenfield.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Highways England has said there are now delays between junctions at the A680 and the A682 near Edenfield, with the section of the bypass which runs alongside Haslingden badly congested.

The spokesman said: "Return to normal traffic conditions are expected between 9:45am and 10:00am."

"There are currently delays of 10 minutes against expected traffic."
