PADIHAM residents have been invited to a Community Wellbeing Day at the town hall in Wednesday with representatives of Burnley Football Club on hand.

The Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire Lord Shuttleworth will join the event at lunchtime.

Organised by Dr James Fleming, a Padiham GP and the Clinical Director of Burnley West Primary Care Network, it lasts from 10am until 2.30pm.

It aims to will give people the opportunity to find out more about the wide range of free courses on offer locally including health awareness; first aid, food safety and health and safety training; chair based exercise and falls prevention; cooking skills and eating well on a budget.

Their will also be information available on accessing health services online, making sugar swaps, cooking nutritious meals and exploring new ways to improve your physical and mental wellbeing.

Free health checks including blood pressure, blood glucose and weight will also be available from a team of health professionals.

Dr Fleming said: “We have organised the Community Wellbeing Day to help people to look after themselves and take control of their health and wellbeing. Being in control of your health can help you feel happier as well as healthier.

“The day should be good fun, informative and interesting. .”

Local organisations attending include Burnley Football Club; Age UK; Lancashire Women’s Centre; Burnley Leisure Trust, and addiction treatment service Inspire.
