MOTORISTS are being warned to expect delays on their daily commute this morning due to a heavy fall of snow overnight across East Lancashire.

Meanwhile, children at St Anne's Church of England Primary School in Rossendale will have a day off as there is a whole school closure today due to adverse weather conditions.

A spokesman for the school said: "The decision to close today was made after assessing the road between 6.30am and 7am, watching both vehicles and pedestrians struggle on our steep hill.

"Decisions like this are extremely difficult yet are made with the health and safety of all our families in mind.

"We appreciate that there will be inconvenience caused but we ask that people recognise that decisions like this are made with good intent and ultimately because we care."

Elsewhere, one of the main routes affected is on the M65 westbought between Junctions 10 on the A671 Cavalry Way at Burnley and Padiham to Junction 7 to Hyndburn Road at Rishton and Accrington.

Also drivers using the B6232 along Elton Road and the Grane Road in Oswaldtwistle are facing disruption.

Heavy traffic is also before junction five of the M65 and travel time is five minutes.

It is believed that there is heavy traffic as a result of the conditions near the Grey Mare Inn.

Meanwhile Rosso Buses have also tweeted.
