THE world-famous Hallé Orchestra will be in Blackburn next month to celebrate the 250th birthday of Beethoven.

The Manchester-based musicians will play three of the legendary German composer's works as part of the 2019/2020 Classics Series.

Young Hungarian conductor Gergely Madaras will be in charge of the concert at King George's Hall at 7.30pm on Friday March 13.

The Hallé will play Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.5 known as ‘Emperor’, the Prometheus Overture, and his celebrated Fifth Symphony.

The piano concerto will be performed by the Daniel Lebhardt.

The concert will preceded at 6:30pm by 'Gergely Madaras in Conversation'.

The Hallé will be back at King George's Hall on Sunday June 28 with music from 'The Best of British Cinema'.

Before then the annual Blackburn Classic season will see the Manchester Camerata perform at the same venue playing music by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Bartok, Dobrinka Tabakova and Tchaikovsky.
