AN INAUGURAL awards ceremony celebrating environmental work at Cumbria's schools is set to be held in Sedbergh next month.

The Schools' Environmental Awards Day has been organised by the Cumbria Eco Forum, a group which encourages school involvement in environmentalism.

The awards event, being held at Sedbergh School on March 13, will feature workshops and talks. There will also be representatives of a number of major organisations present, including Cumbria Wildlife Trust and The Woodlands Trust.

Judges will assess entries in four categories: recognising in-school action; community action; engagement in global environmentalism; and innovation.
