A FOOTBALL fan remains in a critical condition after he suffered a cardiac arrest at an
match on Saturday.
The ambulance service was called to the Wham Stadium at 5.15pm when Rotherham United fan Andrew Wilson-Storey was taken ill.
A Rotherham United club spokesman said Mr Wilson-Storey remains in a “very serious condition” in hospital surrounded by his family and friends.
The spokesman said: “Everyone at Rotherham United, and indeed all associated with the club, would like to reiterate that our thoughts and prayers are with Andrew, his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
“The first team staff have been informed of the news of Andrew’s situation and we are sure that they will be doing everything they can to try and get a result for him tonight.
“The club would also like to thank Accrington Stanley and all of the medical staff present on the day who attended the incident for their efforts and we are hopeful that under the care of those in the hospital, he is able to pull through.”
Within a tweet to the Yorkshire club, an Accrington Stanley spokesman said: “Everyone at Accrington Stanley wishes Rotherham United fan Andy Wilson-Storey and his family all the best and hope he is able to make a full recovery.”
An ambulance service spokesman said an air ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and an ambulance were called to the ground.
The spokesman said a man in his mid 30s was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
