HUNDREDS of residents in Clitheroe and Slaidburn have been left without landlines after a BT outage in the area.

A BT spokesperson confirmed that around 1,200 people were affected by the disruption, which included 999 calls to emergency services.

They said: “A small number of customers in Clitheroe and Slaidburn may have been unable to use their home phone services today due to a technical fault.

"All services were restored by 3.45pm.

"Broadband and mobile calls were not affected and we’re sorry for any inconvenience."

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were notified about the incident by BT earlier today, and asked residents with emergencies to ring 999 on their mobiles until the service is restored.
