FIVE people have been arrested on suspicion of drug dealing following another morning of raids in Blackburn.

Police executed warrants at seven addresses in Blackburn and five people were arrested, all of whom will be questioned about suspected drug supply offences.

More than 50 officers from across the division were deployed in the operation.

This is the third high profile Nimrod strike after 15 people were arrested and charged with supplying Class A drugs. The people arrested during this morning's raids will be questioned by detectives throughout the day.

Chief Inspector Alice Knowles said: "Time and time again, members of the public tell us they do not want drug dealers living amongst them and today we have demonstrated our commitment to cracking down on suspected drug dealing.

"This is one of the biggest crackdowns on suspected drug dealing in Eastern Division this year. We do not want people dealing drugs in our communities and we will take robust action against anyone suspected of doing so.

"I urge anyone with concerns about drug dealing in their neighbourhood to call us on 0845 1 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Warrants were executed at addresses on Burnley Road, Carr Street, Preston New Road, Irving Place, Heatley Close, Blackburn, Alan Critchlow Way, Rishton and Yates Street, Chorley.
