A CUP of tea is the second most ordered item on Deliveroo in the past 12 months, the company has revealed.

The food delivery service has released the top orders it has taken in Blackburn since arriving in the area last year.

The top dish is salt and pepper chicken from Oodles Chinese in Victoria Street.

But surprisingly, Karak Chaii - an Indian inspired creamy tea from Chaiiwala in Whalley Range is the second most popular order.

The others include a Boneless Banquet from KFC, a margherita pizza from Pizza Hut and an ice cream shake from Marhaba, in Victoria Street.

Deliveroo also revealed the most popular time to order a meal is 8.16pm on a Friday.

Around 60 per cent of all orders placed have come from independent restaurants and businesses also.

It has employed more than 20 people in the town.

Harison Foster, regional director of Deliveroo, said: "Our whole team here at Deliveroo are delighted that our rapid growth in Blackburn over the past year means that customers have more choice, restaurants are able to increase their revenue, and riders have opportunity to choose well-paid, flexible work."

"Deliveroo is focused on providing the ultimate food delivery experience.

"Customers have the option to schedule orders via the Deliveroo app up to one day in advance or receive food as soon as possible between noon and 11pm, and from noon on the weekends, from a variety of leading local, independent and best-loved chain restaurants, conveniently delivered to their homes and offices."
