HERE are 10 events in the area coming up:
Brass band
WIGAN Youth Brass Band (WYBB) and The Longridge Brass Band from Preston will be performing at St George’s Church in Tyldesley on Sunday, March 15 at 4pm.
Tyldesley-born musical director Mark Peacock leads the Preston outfit, who will be playing alongside WYBB, one of the country’s leading youth brass bands.
Tickets are priced at £8 and entry will be free for students and anyone aged 16 and under. Tickets can be bought on the door.
Fun at rugby club
AFTERNOON tea, fun and a range of stalls will be on offer at Tyldesley Rugby Union Football Club’s base at St George’s Park on Sunday, March 29.
Facepainting, a chocolate tombola, a coconut shy and a raffle will also be available at the Astley Street event, which starts at 1.30pm.
Tickets are £7.50 per adult and £4 for children.
The event has been organised by Soroptimist International Leigh and District.

Lowton WI
LOWTON Women Institute’s next event will include a talk about Brockholes Nature Reserve.
Andy Rowett will speak about the Preston site at 7.15pm on Thursday, March 5 at Lowton Social Club on Newton Road.
The group’s last meeting covered the Lancashire’s 100th year of belonging to the National Women’s Institute.
Members also tried their hand at Tai Chi.
Lowton WI meet on the first Thursday of the month with new visitors welcome.

Choir event
LOWTON, Golborne and Leigh Community Choir will be playing at St Peter’s Church on Firs Lane in Leigh on Sunday, March 15.
Leigh St Peter’s CE Primary School pupils will also be performing at the event, which will begin at 3pm.
Tickets cost £3 including refreshments and can be paid for on the door.
Writing group
THE Paperback Writers meet from 10.30am to 12.30pm at The Coffee Stop on Railway Road in Leigh every Wednesday.
People do not need to be an experienced writer to attend the sessions, just keen to develop and share their work.
The cost is £6 per session.

Fashion show
A LADIES fashion show and pop-up shop will take place at Golborne Parkside Sports Club on Friday, March 13.
The event will be held at the Rivington Avenue venue at 7.30pm where there will be high street brand items on sale for 50 per cent or more off.

Film screening
ICELANDIC film Woman At War will be screened at The Turnpike Centre in Leigh on Friday, February 28.
The film will take place at 7.30pm with people able to bring their own food and drinks.
Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for students.

Tackling litter
ANYONE wanting to make Hindsford a cleaner place is invited to an open meeting at Sacred Heart Parish Centre on Friday, February 28.
The meeting, which will discuss ways of making the area less of a litter hotspot, will be held in the centre’s games room from 8pm to 9.30pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend and the bar will be open.
Forties night
A 40s night with music from the Davies Sisters and hot pot supper is being held at Bedford Methodist Church in Leigh on Saturday, February 22.
Forties dress is optional for the event at the Breaston Avenue church, which begins at 7pm.
Entry is £6.

Transport talk
A TALK on the history of the Lancashire United Transport and buses in Manchester will take place on Tuesday, February 25.
Dennis Talbot will deliver the talk at Tyldesley Library on Stanley Street at 1.30pm.
